Self Catering Holiday Accomodation Campoamor

Holiday Villa Campoamor

The Villa is on Costa Calida/Blanca coast in South East Spain. The area has an average of 320 days a year of sunshine and maintains an average year round temperature of 24°C. A number of blue flag beaches, offering of watersports, and three excellant golf courses are less than 10 min drive.

The holiday home is inland and surrounded by a golden triangle of three golf course. It is also very close to several blue flag beaches, with life guards in attendance during the main summer season. Each beach has its own character and it's worth trying out a few different ones to see which you prefer.
The Beaches:
Campoamor. This is the closest. This is a much larger beach, also with a beach bar and sun-loungers, and where parking is easier. There is also a proper beach restaurant opposite the small marina. There are banana boats, pedalos and jet skis for hire.
La Zenia is also very close. Here you will find sun-loungers to hire and a couple of beach bars. To the left hand side of the La Zenia hotel is a very quiet more "natural" beach and to the right hand side is the beach with the bars etc. If you buy lunch or drinks at the hotel, you will be able to use their facilities as well -- they have a great pool and a children's play area.
Cabo Roig and Cala Capitán beaches are small rocky coves, reached by descending steps. These beaches are very popular and there is also a marina and restaurants adjacent to some.
Mil Palmeras is a very nice beach and here you will find a whole area of small beach bars and restaurants - some predominantly English and German - - few Spanish ones, it has to be said!
Santiago de la Ribeira or Los Alcazares are the beaches of the Mar Menor which is south of Campoamor. The Mar Menor is an inland saltwater lagoon, separated from the Mediterranean by the La Manga strip. The water is significantly warmer than the Mediterranean and as still as a millpond; there are hardly any waves at all.
San Pedro del Pinatar is the closest of the Mar Menor beach is which is only 10 minutes from Campoamor. This is a lovely beach (called Villanitos or Lo Pagan) and there are lots of shops and cafés here. This is also where the therapeutic mudbaths  - and there is a fantastic walkway between the Mar Menor on the right and the mudbaths on the left. Here you can promenade all the way to the very tip of the La Manga strip - but you can't get across!!

Golf Courses

Golf: . This holiday home is on the Real(Royal) golf club Campoamor with the gates of Las Ramblas only 300 yards away. The Villa Martin golf course is less than 10 minutes drive away. The new championship course of La Finca is only fifteen minutes away and the famous La Manga Course can be reached in some thirty-five minutes, making this area a real golfer's paradise. About an hour away is the new luxury resort of Bonalba. A new course Lo Romero has opened near Pilar de Horadada it is about twenty minutes drive from the villa. It is an excellant course very nice fast greens. It is also at € 45 the cheapest course on the coast. If you are looking for a challange try the La Serena. There are water features in sixteen of the eighteen holes[bold].
Winter Golf Package: Had a wet summer why not enjoy a Winter Golf Holiday for only £ 250/ to £300 per peson per week. This includes stay, three round of golf and car hire but exculdes flight. Calculations based on 4 to 6 sharing.

Resturants & Entertainment

The villa is within walking distance to the supermarket, shops and banks. The new commercial complex La Fuente has been opened. It has several bars including two Irish Pubs, Fish & Chip,a Pizza resturant,a Chinese and Spanish Restaurants. More shops and restaurants are expected to open this summer. Mariato's asiatic kitchen which has opened furtherup from la Fuente is very popular.
For greater choice a short 5 to 10 minute drive to the Plaza of Los Dolses, Villa Martin and the Blue Lagoon. I however prefer the Cabo Roig Strip with aguamarina, Cabo Roig and playamarina. There is a choice of Chinese, Indian, Thai, Italian, English and Spanish restaurants.
Campoamor Golf Hotel is at the highest point of the development. The restaurant has and International Chef to offer the best cuisine to all its clients, to be enjoyed in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. It is an excellent place to have lunch in the patio. On a clear day you have excellent view of the entire Costa Calida coast from La Zenia to the Mar Menor and the La Manga strip.
La Finca De Eduardos is a short drive from the villa. This is probably one of the finest restaurants on the Costa Blanca/Calida coast. They serve lunches on the terrace all year round. An evening meal at the restaurant is very pleasant and the food is excellent. We had a very nice all inclusive Christmas Lunch last year. It is highly recommended if you want to get away for Christmas. Eduardos its sister restaurant is in Villa Martin Plaza. This is also a fine restaurant but the atmosphere is not as good as La Finca.
A nice Spainsh Restaurant is EL Pescadito in Mils Palmeras. They serve an excellant Paella. They have Flamenco dance on Wednesday eveining.
The Chineese Restaurant that is recommended is Pato Pekin in the Las Fillipnas oeste area. It is less than 5 minutes driving past the super market.

Towns & Cities

The nearest town from the Villa is Torrevieja. It is a typical Spanish town. It has an excellent Friday market, brilliant shops, nice marina and beaches. It is 16 kilometers from the villa.Murcia the regional capital, is known as the “Baroque capitol of Spain” for its wealth of fine buildings and is a fantastic place to explore. It is shopping heaven with many up market shops and department stores. You can wander through the pedestrianised areas to beautiful squares which are just waiting to be discovered.
There is a magnificent cathedral, a beautiful monastery, gardens and parks, the list is almost endless.
Alicante, an enchanting city situated on the famous Costa Blanca and overlooked by a shield of robust mountains.

The city of Alicante of Alacant is the capital of its own province and it is also the second most important city in the Valencia district of Spain.

The Costa Blanca or in other words the white coast has helped place Alicante on the map, generating a major tourist attraction with its miles of sandy beaches. However, Alicante has created more interest since transforming itself from a rundown old town and into a stylish city, with its new harbour complex, clean beaches, outstanding museums, exceptional shops and buzzing nightlife.

With a population averaging 330,000 (2008), Alicante appeals to many travellers who wish to take a break from their busy lifestyles in order to visit this sunny, easy going, sea port city. Where one can not only relax along the stunning beaches but also discover the great historical monuments the city has to offer. In contrast to other surrounding resorts like Benidorm, the city of Alicante differentiates itself as being the cultural capital of the Costa Blanca.

Alicante’s location between the mountains and sea provides the city with a captivating beauty which is complimented by a rich cultural history. The city’s main landmark, the Castillo de Santa Bárbara which is situated on Mount Benacantil is an exceptional portrayal of the Moorish history encountered by Alicante.
The port of Cartagena, in the Mediterranean's Costa Cálida, has been prized since Carthaginian times. Thanks to its strategic position on the Murcia coast, it has been inhabited by several cultures which have left their mark on its artistic heritage. A tour of the place and its museums will draw us into the history of a city closely tied to the sea.

The Cartagena, Port of Cultures initiative allows visitors to enjoy a wide range of options, discovering the cultural wealth and rich history of this town. This is an authentic journey across the centuries that will take you from the town's origins through to the present day. On the way you will discover its historic vestiges, its most emblematic places and the splendid collections housed in its archaeological museums

Tapas

Tapas are appetizers usually served before food. It is usually served in small portions with wine.
A guest of mine who stayed at the villa for two weeks said that he had not had Tapas while he was on holiday. We decided to go on a Tapas Trail to explore and rate the best Tapas bar near the villa.

Tamesis:
This is the nearest to the villa. It is a very typical Spanish bar and the décor is simple. There is an adequate choice of Tapas. The food and drinks are cheap and make excellent value for money.Direction: From the villa go down Calle Soria at the end of the road turn left. Cross the main road Tamesis is 25 yards on the right.

Fuego:
Fuego is a wine and Tapas bar in La Fuente Shopping centre a short walk from the house: It is a pleasant place to have a drink. You can watch live Premiership football . I have yet to try the food.

Las Ramblas:

The Las Ramblas golf course has a excellent new club house. The restaurant on first floor has a varied choice of 12 to 15 items of tapas. The pleasant staff will help you to select the food.

.Cabo Roig Restaurant:

This restaurant is situated in a vantage view point overlooking the Mediterranean and Cabo Roig marina. It is an excellent place to have a drink and enjoy the cool breeze. Tapas is served at the bar. It is also a good place for formal dining. The food is Spanish and largely seafood.
